Andrey Baykov was born in 1984 in Tcherepoviets, Vologodskaya oblast'. In 2005 he completed a B.A. degree in East Asian studies ( MGIMO University). Graduated with honors. He then went on to defend an M.A. thesis in world politics, for which he also received a distinction. In the course of his studies he was repeatedly awarded scholarships by the President of Russia, Bank of Moscow and BP. In January 2007, he became a junior research fellow with the Centre for Post-Soviet studies, a think tank for international affairs coordinated by MGIMO University. In February 2008 he started off as a lecturer at the Department of Applied Analysis of International Issues, MGIMO University . (Subjects: “Empirical strategies of interactions between business and government”, Contemporary agenda of International Relations). In November 2007, he took up a doctoral programme under the supervision of Prof. Alexey D. Bogaturov. His Ph.D. thesis is entitled “A comparative description of integration interactions in foreign Europe and East Asia (a political analysis)”. In August 2007, he was appointed editor of the “International Trends” academic journal.
His scientific field of work comprises comparative theory and practice of regional intergration phenomena, international relations in East Asia and in the CIS space.
In the summer 2003, he spent a month at the Institute of World politics and economics in Hamburg. He also attended a series of international conferences (April 2006: “Tendencies of integration and disintegration in the post-soviet space” in Aloushta, Ukraine; September 2007: “ Poland and Russia in a globalised world”; Warsaw, Poland).
Andrey Baykov has to his name a number of specialized publications.
