Mikhail A. TROITSKIY

BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE

Mikhail Troitskiy was born in Leningrad (St. Petersburg) in 1977.

Mikhail Troitskiy holds a Ph.D. (Cand.Polit.Sci) in International Relations from the Institute for the U.S. and Canadian Studies, Russian Academy of Sciences (http://www.iskran.ru). The theme of his dissertation defended in June 2003 is “The Evolution of the U.S. Euroatlantic Strategy after the Collapse of Bipolarity (1992-2002)”.

In 1999, he received an MA in International Relations from the School of International Relations, St. Petersburg State University (http://www.dip.pu.ru). In the same year, Mikhail Troitskiy was awarded the First Diploma (Prize) at the St. Petersburg University Annual Young Scholar Papers Competition. In 2005, Mikhail Troitskiy was awarded Fulbright Senior Scholar Fellowship for the 2005/06 Academic Year.

In 2000, Mikhail Troitskiy joined the Academic Educational Forum on International Relations (http://www.obraforum.ru) where he has since worked as project assistant, project coordinator and deputy director. In 2003, he became member of Editorial Board of the “International Trends” journal (http://www.intertrends.ru).

Since September 2003, Mikhail Troitskiy teaches History of International Relations and Russian Foreign Policy at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (http://www.mgimo.ru).

Since January 2005, Mikhail Troitskiy works as senior research fellow at the Institute for the U.S. and Canadian Studies, Russian Academy of Sciences (ISKRAN). In 2001-2003, he lectured at the School of World Politics of the State University for Humanities based in ISKRAN (http://www.worldpolitics.redline.ru).

In February-June 2001 Mikhail Troitskiy was an intern at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (http://www.gcsp.ch).

In August 2005 - February 2006, M.Troitskiy worked as a Fulbright-Kennan Visiting Scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, DC. In June-August 2006 he was a BP Visiting Fellow at Clare Hall, Cambridge University.

Dr. Troitskiy published on U.S. foreign policy, US-EU, Russia-EU and Russia-NATO relations, Russian foreign policy and domestic politics. His articles and book reviews appeared in Pro et Contra, International Trends, Svobodnaya Mysl – XXI, Novaya i Noveishaya Istoria (Contemporary History) and other journals. His news analyses and comments were published in Russkii Zhurnal, the Wek (Rodnaya Gazeta since 2003) and Sovetnik Presidenta Weeklies.
